The Cordless Drill I Use Every Day in My Detailing Business

One of the biggest advantages of sticking with a battery platform is how quickly your tools start working together.

That’s one of the reasons I ended up using the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 2903-20 Drill/Driver in my detailing setup.

Originally, I bought into Milwaukee because I was already using:

  • Milwaukee work lights

  • A Milwaukee polisher

  • A Milwaukee leaf blower for drying vehicles

Once you already own multiple batteries and chargers, adding another tool to the same platform just makes sense.

And honestly, this drill has been excellent.

Why a Good Drill Matters for Detailing

A cordless drill might not seem like a major detailing tool at first, but once you start using drill brush attachments, it becomes something you grab constantly.

I mainly use this drill with:

  • Carpet drill brushes

  • Floor mat cleaning brushes

  • Interior scrubbing attachments

  • Tight-space cleaning brushes

The combination of cordless power and strong torque makes interior cleaning much faster and easier compared to scrubbing everything by hand.

Especially during deep interior details.

Plenty of Power for Cleaning Attachments

One thing I’ve liked about this drill is that it never feels underpowered.

Even when using larger drill brushes on:

  • carpet

  • rubber floor mats

  • heavily soiled interiors

  • textured plastics

…it has no problem keeping consistent speed and power.

That matters because weak drills can bog down when brushes start grabbing carpet fibers or thick grime.

This one has handled everything I’ve thrown at it without issues.

More Than Just a Detailing Tool

Another reason I like having a quality cordless drill is that it’s useful far beyond detailing.

I end up using it around the house constantly for:

  • basic repairs

  • garage projects

  • mounting equipment

  • van setup work

  • random household tasks

When you buy a good cordless tool system, it tends to become something you use almost daily.

Why Battery Platforms Matter

One thing I’d recommend to anyone building a detailing setup is to avoid spreading yourself across too many battery systems.

Batteries get expensive fast.

Sticking to one ecosystem helps simplify:

  • charging

  • storage

  • backup batteries

  • tool compatibility

  • long-term upgrades

For me, Milwaukee made sense because I was already heavily invested in the M18 platform.

That meant I could run:

  • polishers

  • blowers

  • lights

  • drills

…all from the same batteries.

That convenience adds up quickly during busy workdays.

Final Thoughts

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL drill has become one of those tools I never really think about anymore — because it just works.

No issues.

No complaints.

It’s powerful, reliable, and fits perfectly into a professional detailing setup.

Whether I’m:

  • scrubbing carpets

  • cleaning floor mats

  • setting up equipment

  • working around the house

…it’s always ready to go.

Sometimes the best tools are the ones you stop noticing because they simply do their job every single time.
